Roles & Responsibilities
  • Three members serving three-year terms on the Civil Service Commission
  • Appointed by the City Manager and confirmed by City Council
  • Approves eligibility and testing parameters for firefighters and police officers covered under Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code
  • Approves local civil service rules and regulations
  • Hears appeals related to promotional and disciplinary actions
  • Must be a resident of Plano for 3 years, must be over 25 years of age, and must not have held a public office within the preceding 3 years
