Property Standards Division

The Property Standards Division is committed to providing outstanding services to residential and commercial property owners and occupants that promote compliance with property maintenance codes and ordinances that directly impact health, safety and welfare; thereby contributing to their overall quality of life in Plano.

Responsibilities and Services
 Inspect residential, commercial, and industrial districts for compliance with City code and zoning ordinances, and to assist in the education of residents and business owners in code and ordinance matters.

Have a Property Standards Staff Member Speak at Your Meeting

Property Standards Division staff is available to speak to Home Owner Associations, Civic organizations, and other groups on the topic of Property Maintenance, the Code Compliance process, or other general information concerning residential and commercial upkeep. Please complete the online Meeting Speaker's Request Form; providing the requester's name, contact information, name of the organization and scheduled date of the meeting. To allow for adequate scheduling, please complete and submit the Speaker’s Request a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the meeting date.

Register a Complaint
There are several ways you may register a complaint with our division.

  • All email complaints should be forwarded to Administrative Assistant staff. The email should include the address of the property in question and a brief description of the concern or type of violation. Please note if you would like feedback in reference to the matter.
  • Call 972-208-8150 to connect to our specially trained customer service representatives who are ready to help you with your requests.
  • The citizen service request system is an online data base that will log your complaint with the department. The complaint is then processed accordingly.
  • You may also register a complaint via mail or by simply walking into and speaking with a representative of our division at the Joint Use Facility.
