Tree lighting at 7 p.m. in Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th Street
Plano Parks and Recreation Department will host Dickens in Historic Downtown Plano on Friday, December 4, 2015. Activities start at 6 p.m. and will conclude at 10 p.m. with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony taking place at 7 p.m. in Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th Street. To accommodate shoppers, the downtown merchants will be staying open late.
Dickens in Historic Downtown Plano will have several stages of entertainment to add holiday music to the evening. Entertainment will include singing and dancing by local dance companies, high schools and church groups.
A variety of food vendors will offer an assortment of tasty treats during the evening. Concessions will consist of hot drinks for the cool evening, soft drinks, kettle korn, corn dogs, funnel cakes, and a food lover’s fare from several of the downtown restaurants including Ye Ole Butcher Shop, Urban Crust, Jorg’s Café Vienna and Angela’s at the Crosswalk.
A special Santa mailbox will be installed in Haggard Park near the Interurban Railway Museum for children who would like to write a letter to Santa. Letters received will be hand-delivered to Santa when he arrives at Dickens in Historic Downtown Plano. Santa will visit with children at his house on J Place from 6:30 – 9:30 pm.
A fun way to reach the activities at Dickens in Historic Downtown Plano is to catch the DART Train from the Bush Turnpike or Parker Road DART stations.
