Mysterious footsteps. A woman's scream. Shades open, doors unlock, chairs unfold - but there's no explanation. Many denizens of downtown Plano report strange occurrences in the area's historic buildings. Some claim they're haunted.
Now, just in time for Halloween, Plano residents will have a chance to experience the haunted history of downtown Plano, with the inaugural Apparition Expedition: A Stroll Through Plano's Paranormal Past.
This guided, 1.5-mile hike through historic downtown Plano will introduce attendees to the mysterious, the ghostly, and the darker moments of Plano's history. Hikers will get an exclusive peek at creepy corners, back hallways, and other out-of-the-way spots.
Make sure to join us for the After Party at Old Community Well where we will be removing the grate over the well, dating back to 1885, and bringing up anything we find from the bottom of its depths. There will be music, drinks, food, and fun for all. There will also be numerous vendors throughout the area, providing access to various spooky and mysterious oddities.
The Expedition will begin at the Interurban Railway Museum. Tours will begin at 6:30 p.m. and depart every 30 minutes until 8:30 p.m.
All registrations will cost $10: includes the hike, light refreshments, the after-party and a trolley ride back to the Interurban. Souvenir t-shirts and other items will also be available for purchase.
Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather; the tour involves about 1.5 miles of walking and much of it is outdoors and there are stairs involved.
The event is co-sponsored by the City of Plano, the Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, the Historic Downtown Plano Association, Plano Magazine, and Plano Podcast.
