Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with the Sustainability & Environmental Education Division

Get involved and make a difference in your community!  Join the Live Green in Plano (LGIP) Volunteer Program for engaging, educational and exciting volunteer opportunities all year-round.  Plus, meet like-minded volunteers who share the same passion for a sustainable community as you!

Get started by completing a short application and attending an orientation.  In orientation volunteers will learn about the department’s role within the City, how LGIP Volunteers make a difference in the community, as well as opportunities available.  An orientation is required before volunteering on an ongoing basis.  Youth 13 and older are welcome to join the LGIP Volunteer Program.

There are volunteer opportunities for everyone:
  • Garden Workdays
  • Community outreach programs
  • Household Chemical Reuse Center
  • Litter and creek cleanups (no orientation required - suitable for all ages)
  • Storm drain labeling (no orientation required - suitable for all ages)
  • Special event assistance
  • Administrative opportunities and more!
Looking for service hours for school, a club or organization?  Not yet 13 years old?  One-time volunteer opportunities not requiring an orientation and suitable for younger volunteers are also available.
