Volunteers devote thousands of hours to helping keep our creeks, parks and public spaces litter-free and beautiful year round through events hosted by Live Green in Plano (LGIP).
However, litter trapped in tree roots and brush along creeks and waterways is hard to reach during much of the year, due to sloping banks, actively growing vines and poison ivy.LGIP's special two-hour Waterways Cleanup events held monthly between December and March, allow our volunteers to reach this otherwise inaccessible litter while the brush, vines and poison ivy have died back or are dormant for the winter. Cleanup events are fun, purposeful community events perfect for individuals, families, corporate teams and religious groups. Cleaning supplies (trash bags, gloves, litter pick-up sticks) are provided. A limited number of waders are available on a first come, first served basis. Volunteers may receive credit for service hours upon request. For more information or to register yourself or a volunteer team for upcoming cleanup events, visit plano.gov/cleanups or call 972-769-4369.
