LGIP Volunteers: Keeping it Green in Plano

Volunteer Live Green in Plano

Each month individuals, clubs, organizations and businesses donate their time and talents to making Plano cleaner, greener and healthier.

While the benefits to the community are valuable, the volunteers also benefit by feeling needed and productive, learning new skills and making new friends, having fun and sometimes earning volunteer hours for school.

The Live Green in Plano (LGIP) Volunteer Program provides year-round opportunities for Plano residents, whether they're available on a regular basis or just once-in-a-while. For those interested in volunteering with LGIP, it's just a matter of getting connected and letting us know what interests you. In most cases previous experience is not required. Ongoing opportunities include:

• Litter cleanup in neighborhoods, parks or school campus.
• Helping behind the scenes at special events such as the Great American Cleanup, Water Wise Landscape Tour and Texas Recycles Day.
• Labeling storm drains that lead to our creeks and waterways.
• Helping with routine maintenance at the Plano Community Garden.
• Helping with administrative functions in the LGIP office.

Those ages 13+ who are interested in volunteering on an ongoing basis are asked to complete an online application and register for a one-hour New Volunteer Orientation. This will help our LGIP staff familiarize you with available opportunities.

For those interested in one-time volunteer opportunities, or opportunities suited for families with younger children, an orientation is not required.  Learn more about upcoming  volunteer opportunities.
