Fire Station #8 welcomed a new truck into service with a Wetdown and Push-In Ceremony.
The time-honored tradition was enjoyed by Plano Fire-Rescue staff and community members on May 10. This station, 4621 Hedgcoxe Road, primarily serves northern Plano neighborhoods.
Plano Fire Chief Sam Greif and the department are quite proud of the beautiful new addition. Truck 8 is a 109-foot aerial, rear-mount ladder vehicle. It has a 1,250-gallon per minute water pump and a 300 gallon on-board water tank. Features on this truck allow firefighters to perform elevated rescues, aerial master streams and other life-saving duties.
Celebrations of new fire equipment being put into service date back to the 1800s. Watch this Plano TV video to see why new fire engines are manually backed into their new homes.
