Juror Information 

If you are interested in checking for cancellations of your scheduled Jury Duty, please call our automated telephone system at (972) 941-2199 and press 1.

If you are interested in checking to see if you qualify for a statutory Exemption from appearance, please call our automated telephone system at (972) 941-2199 and press 2.

A person may claim an exemption from Jury Duty if that person:

  • is over 70 years of age;
  • has legal custody of a child/children younger than 15 years of age and serving on the jury requires leaving the child or children without adequate supervision;
  • is a student of a public or private secondary school;
  • is a person enrolled and in actual attendance at an institution of higher education;
  • is an officer or an employee of the Senate, the House of Representatives, or any department, commission, board, office or other agency in the legislative branch of state government;
  • has served as a petit juror in county court during 24 month period preceding appearance date;
  • is the primary caretaker of a person who is an invalid, unable to care for him/herself.
  • is a member of the United States military forces serving on active duty and deployed to a location away from the person's home station and out of the person's county or residence.
  • is not a citizen of the United States or a resident of the City of Plano.

NOTE: A person claiming a disqualification or exemption based on a lack of citizenship or residence in the county might be ineligible to vote in the county.

If you qualify and wish to claim your exemption, you must send proof of such to the City of Plano Municipal Court, P.O. Box 860828, Plano, TX 75086-0828.  However, if you qualify for an exemption, you may still serve by simply not claiming the exemption.
