Red Light Camera Appeals

The Automated Red Light Camera Enforcement Program is a program operated by the Plano Police Department.  The Plano Municipal Court does not collect the penalty for red light camera violations.  You must follow the instructions on the notice you received in the mail concerning this violation.  Only if there is a finding of civil liability by the Administrative Hearing Officer, and you elect to appeal the finding, would you then appear at the Municipal Court.

You have the right to appeal the finding of civil liability, made in the Administrative Hearing, for a trial de novo in the Plano Municipal Court.  In order to appeal the finding of civil liability, you must file an Appeal Petition with the Clerk of the Municipal Court, at 900 E. 15th Street, Plano, Texas, before the 31st day after the date on which the Administrative Hearing Officer entered the finding of civil liability.  You must file the following documents when appealing the finding:
  • Notice of Right to Appeal
  • Appeal Petition
  • Statement of Personal Financial Obligation (MUST be notarized)

At the Appeal Hearing, if you are found liable by the Municipal Court Judge, you will be liable to pay the civil penalty and any other fees due the City of Plano.

If you have any questions, you may contact Officer Mike Avera with the Plano Police Department at  972-941-2459.
