It’s the Law!
Discrimination, based on race, color, religion, gender, disability, familial status or national origin, in connection with the sale or rental of most housing and any vacant land offered for residential construction or use, is illegal under Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968.
The City of Plano, through Ordinance No. 92-3-13, also prohibits housing discrimination. Furthermore, it is illegal to threaten, intimidate, or interfere with anyone exercising a fair housing right or assisting others who exercise that right. The City of Plano’s 2010-2014 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing reviews impediments to fair housing choice in the public and private sectors within the city.
