Found Animals

The Animal Services Division works very hard at getting lost pets back to their owners. If you have found a pet and are willing to care for the animal until the owner can be located, please call us with the following information.

  • The date, zip code and major cross streets where the animal was found.
  • Breed of animal if known
  • Color of animal
  • Collar type and type of tags
  • Any other characteristics of the animal
  • Your name, address and phone numbers. Please state if you give permission to give the possible owner your phone number in order that they can contact you

It must be remembered that any owner redeeming an animal from the shelter will be responsible for the payment of the impoundment fee(s) and may receive citations. While we understand that accidents do happen, owners are responsible for physically restraining their pets at all times within the City limits, providing the animal with yearly vaccinations against rabies and displaying both vaccination and city registration tags on the animals collar.

The Mission of the City of Plano Animal Services Division is to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of animals and people in Plano, TX.
