Traps

The City of Plano provides its residents with a free of charge live box-trap service. Citizens are welcome to check the traps out at the shelter with a current Driver's License for identification. The officers will explain the workings of the trap and what to bait it with at the time of check out. "Shooing away" or other self directed attempts at wildlife removal are not recommended. Besides the fact that some animals may carry different diseases transmittable to man (the worst being rabies), some have legendary self defense mechanisms (namely the skunk). The quickest, safest and most cost effective way to deal with wildlife on your property is to use the traps we provide and have an Animal Services Officer collect the animals that are trapped. The animals are then taken to a local park away from the residents and released.

The Mission of the City of Plano Animal Services Division is to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of animals and people in Plano, TX.
