Basit Siddiqui Andrea Stroh Margaret Tsai Cultural Affairs Commission Agendas Cultural Affairs Commission Minutes Statement of Purpose The Cultural Affairs Commission was established by the City of Plano to ensure that the arts were incorporated into the civic infrastructure for the City’s residents. The Cultural Affairs Commission reviews and makes recommendations to Council on applications for Major Grants, Small Grants, and Special Events Grants. The Commission also selects the contractor for the Summer Arts Program. The Arts and Culture Grants Program and the Summer Arts Program are provided through the Cultural Affairs Commission. The Arts and Culture Grants program provides support for non-profit arts organizations to entertain and engage our citizens in all aspects of the arts. The Summer Arts Program provides free art camps for underserved youth- music, theatre, dance, and visual arts experiences are on the menu! The current provider of the Summer Arts Program is the ArtCentre of Plano . Mar 3         Regular meeting. Discuss 2008-2009 Special Event (SE) Guidelines, Applications and Evaluation Criteria. Apr. 7        Regular meeting. Finalize SE Guidelines and Applications. Apr 8         (Tuesday) SG, MG, and SE Guidelines and Application forms available to the public. Apr 12       (Saturday) Workshop for MG applicants. May 9    (Friday) SG, MG, and SE applications due by 5pm. May 23      Applications picked up by commissioners. Available until 7 pm. May 23-Aug 4        Commissioners review SG, MG, and SE applications. June 2       Regular meeting. SG and SE presentations made to commission. July 12      (Saturday) MG presentations made to commission. Aug 4        Regular meeting. Finalize SG, MG, and SE recommendations for City Council. Aug 16      (Saturday) Presentation of SG, MG, and SE recommendations to CIty Council at FY 2008-2009 Budget Work Session. Sept 8      Regular meeting. Discussion of Commission Activity during FY 2007-2008. Review CAC mission statement and goals. Oct 6         Regular meeting. Update and finalize FY 2008-2009 CAC mission statement and goals. Nov 3         Regular meeting. Finalize work plan for FY 2008-2009.
