| Electric service has been deregulated within the State of Texas. As a result, incumbent electric companies were divided into three separate divisions: generation, wires/distribution, retail electric providers. The new wires/distribution division for the incumbent electric company is now called ONCOR Electric Delivery. They still set all new electric meters, remove old meters, maintain electric wires, distribute all electricity, and read the electric meters every month. Citizens are now able to choose their Retail Electric Provider (REP). TXU Energy is TXU Electric Delivery's REP. Currently there are 19 REPs serving the City of Plano. To choose a new electric provider, please click here . (ONCOR Service area only.) CoServ Electric formerly known as the Denton County Electric Cooperative, Inc also serves the City of Plano. Citizens being served by CoServ cannot participate in electric deregulation because Electric Cooperatives decided not to join the deregulation process. Please review the service area map if you need to determine which electric company serves your area.
