Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)
DART provides mass transportation to/from Plano and around the Dallas
metroplex. There are two transit centers in Plano, strategically
located on the east and west sides of the city. The west transit center
is located at 15th Street and Coit Road, near major employers such as
Alcatel, Medical Center of Plano and Dallas Morning News. The east
transit center is near U.S. 75 and Archerwood Drive, in proximity to
government and county offices, several large office complexes and
retail shopping districts.
DART also operates one of the nation’s newest light rail systems
serving the Dallas metroplex. From Ft. Worth via the Trinity Railway
Express to the Dallas Zoo, DART has numerous stops throughout Dallas
and is developing northbound routes to connect Plano and other suburban
cities such as Richardson, Garland, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch. In
2002, DART opened two light rail stations in Plano at 15th Street and
Parker Road. DART’s light rail gives Plano residents alternative and
convenient travel choices for work and leisure.
