Mariah Armitage, CEM, TEM
Senior Emergency Management Specialist
Mariah Armitage graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Emergency Administration and Planning. In addition to her education, she received the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designation from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and the Certified Texas Emergency Manager (TEM) from the Emergency Management Association of Texas (EMAT). Ms. Armitage began her professional career with Titan Corporation in Washington D.C. as an Emergency Management Analyst. Since then, Ms. Armitage has gained invaluable experience working in and with the non-profit, government, and private sectors and possesses exceptional knowledge on how they function together during disasters. Her professional experience includes emergency operations planning, exercise design, shelter operations, special populations, mass casualty operations, pandemic flu preparedness, continuity of operations planning, and grants management. Ms. Armitage’s operational experience includes responding to numerous severe weather events, public health events, civil disturbances and protests, as well as Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Some of her current job duties include comprehensive emergency management planning, administering the Plano Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, grants management and special populations planning. In addition to her job responsibilities, Ms. Armitage is a Board Member for the Emergency Management Association of Texas and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration at the University of Texas at Arlington. Ms. Armitage is extremely pleased to be a part of the City of Plano and looks forward to serving the citizens of Plano for years to come.
Prit Patel
Senior Emergency Management Specialist
Prit Patel is an experienced emergency management professional who began her career with the City of Mesquite, Texas – Office of Emergency Management. As the Emergency Management Specialist, she helped establish the emergency management office from ground up. She served as project manager over emergency operations planning, reception center/shelter hub planning, public outreach, a citizen notification system, outdoor warning sirens as well as numerous other projects. Prit also responded to two federal disaster declarations by managing the Mesquite Reception Center/Shelter Hub during Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008 for coastal evacuees. Prit’s operational experience also includes responding to numerous flooding and severe weather events, special events, public health issues, and emergency management liaison during Super Bowl XLV. In 2009, she was promoted to the Mesquite City Manager’s Office as a Management Analyst. She worked on a range of municipal programs, services, policies, and special projects in coordination with internal departments, City Management and Council. In October of 2011, she accepted the position as Senior Emergency Management Specialist with the City of Plano and is pleased to return to the field of emergency management. Prit’s professional experience involves emergency management planning and response, operational experience, budget development and oversight, strategic planning, relationship building and collaboration, emergency operations center experience, and preparedness efforts. Prit has been involved in regional comprehensive emergency management planning and response for the Dallas-Fort Worth area serving on regional committees and working groups. She has a Bachelors Degree from University of North Texas in Emergency Administration and Disaster Planning with a Minor in Public Administration. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Public Administration and her Certified Emergency Management certification.
Kasey Pollan
Emergency Management Specialist
Kaysey Pollan graduated in August of 2008 from the University of North Texas with a degree in Emergency Administration and Planning and a minor in Public Administration. Immediately following her graduation, she began her career at the South Plains Association of Governments in Lubbock, Texas as an Emergency Operations Planner. During her time at SPAG she oversaw the writing and implementation of the region’s Emergency Operations Plans. She also administered the FEMA Hazard Mitigation grants and Homeland Security grant funding for the region. Kaysey has experience with mitigation planning, volunteer coordination, grant writing and management, response and recovery efforts, and community outreach. She came to Plano in June of 2011 and looks forward to help make the City of Plano a better prepared community.
Harlene Gresham
Senior Administrative Assistant
Harlene Gresham worked for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in Reno Nevada. Her responsibilities at this facility were to register sex offenders and ex-felons; as well as scheduling all training courses for Reno and Sparks Police Officers and Deputies. She was also a member of the Citizens Emergency Response Team and Community Homeland Security Council for the County. Harlene operated with the Richardson Texas Police Dept. for 4 ½ years as Secretary to the Deputy Chief and worked in Adult Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigations Section. She began working for the City of Plano on August 29, 2005; hours before Hurricane Katrina made land-fall. She currently acts as Senior Administrative Assistant.
