Emergency Preparedness

Due to the various potential hazards Plano faces, it is vital that everyone in the Plano community take measures to prepare for emergencies and disaster events that could disrupt our everyday way of life.  A good rule of thumb when preparing plans and developing emergency kits is to be prepared to be self sufficient for at least 72 hours.  Everyone’s situation is unique and we hope that the information we’ve provided will address the needs of our diverse community.

We’ve provided information in the navigation menu to the right as a reference to aid in the development of emergency plans and preparedness activities.

Please use the guidance that we have provided for you to create and maintain emergency kits for you and anyone else in your care.  We encourage you to share this information with friends and family.  You may also want to read our Residential Emergency and Disaster Initiative (REDI) Guide.

If you have any questions about the material or have suggestions for improving the information contained on our website please feel free to e-mail us at dhs@plano.gov
