Citizens of the City of Plano will only be evacuated if a serious imminent threat is facing our citizens. Given the grounds for an evacuation, when an order to evacuate is issued, make sure you comply with the request immediately.
Evacuation Preparation:
• Locate several shelter areas in and outside your usually community area.
• Have knowledge of your work and children’s school protocol for evacuation.
• Do not attempt to go to a hotel or motel before calling and confirming there is room availability as these facilities tend to fill up extremely quickly as evacuations are ordered. • Have updated numbers and maps of potential evacuation points
• Wear durable shoes and durable clothing.
• Make sure you lock your house.
• Leave a written message behind to let others know where you are headed.
• DO NOT USE BACKROADS; ONLY USE AUTHORIZED EVACUATION ROUTES.
• When you have reached safety, call your out-of-area contact and let him or her know where you are.
