The City of Plano conducted an all-hazard assessment of potential vulnerabilities to our city that can be summarized into two different types of hazards: man-made and natural. Natural hazards offer the most potential impact for Plano due to its geographical position.  Plano is located in a flood plain as well as a region that has become known as “tornado alley”; therefore prone to many different types of weather. Man-Made disasters range from hazardous material spills to terrorist attacks; they can be both accidents and intentional, and our citizens need to be prepared for both.  For more information about how to prepare for both Natural and Man-Made disasters please visit our Emergency Preparedness page.
