ROAD CONSTRUCTION –WEEK OF 5-19-08      The following projects are categorized by note in parentheses after the project name as follows: (CIP) – City Community Investment Program (Tel. 972-941-7152) (DEV) – Private developer initiated (Tel. 972-941-7152) (PB. WKS.) – City Public Works Department (Tel. 972-769-4142) (TxDOT) – Texas Department of Transportation (Gus Khankarli,Tel. 972-542-2345) (PARKS) – City Parks Department (Tel. 972-941-7235) (NTTA) – North Texas Tollway Authority (Sherita Coffelt,Tel. 214-224-2398) (DAL.) – City of Dallas ( Tel. 214-670-4262)   MAJOR CONSTRUCTION ALERTS DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY BETWEEN LBJ FREEWAY (I-635) AND WYCLIFF PLAZA (NTTA) – The North Texas Tollway Authority is underway (as of July, 2006) with a major reconstruction project within these limits. The project is expected to be underway for approximately two years (until summer, 2008). (Sherita Coffelt, NTTA at 214-224-2398) SH121 AT LEGACY DRIVE (TxDOT) –  Legacy portion of the intersection was previously completed an opened to traffic. U-Turns remain closed temporarily. (Jim May, TxDOT, 972-370-9722). SH121 AT SPRING CREEK PARKWAY (TxDOT) – Spring Creek portion of the intersection was previously completed and opened to traffic. U-Turns remain closed temporarily. (Jim May, TxDOT, 972-370-9722) FULL ROAD CLOSURES (NO TRAFFIC) No closures to report. OTHER LANE CLOSURES (EXCLUDING THOSE LISTED ABOVE) 15TH STREET DRAINAGE FROM WEST OF US 75 TO COLUMBIA PLACE (CIP) – Major storm drainage system installation in this area will be underway. Various lanes east and west bound will be closed thru summer, 2008. Traffic should seek alternate routes if possible. (James Caswell/Chris Best) 15TH STREET RECONSTRUCTION – AVENUE G TO AVENUE I (CIP) – Paving work is complete and all lanes of the road are opened to traffic. Periodic lane closures will occur as utility companies do relocation work. (Dennis Freeman/Chris Best) COIT ROAD AT MAPLESHADE (DEV) – The left lane northbound and the left lane southbound will be closed periodically for left turn construction. (Dennis Maloy) DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY – WINDHAVEN TO SPRING CREEK PKWY. (DEV) – The northbound right lane will be closed for storm sewer work (Rob Hill). HEADQUARTERS – PARKWOOD TO PRESTON (CIP) – Project includes widening from 4 to 6 lanes. One lane in each direction will be closed for construction activity in the median between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Traffic may decide to seek alternate routes. (Husain Hamza/James Powell) LEGACY DRIVE BETWEEN CHASE OAKS BOULEVARD AND US 75 (DEV) – The north lane westbound will be closed. (Walter Ellwood) LEGACY DRIVE – K AVENUE TO CUSTER ROAD (PB WKS) – Public Works is underway with pavement repairs on Legacy. 1 lane eastbound from Custer to Red River will be closed for work and a second lane will be closed between 9 am and 4 pm. 1 lane westbound from K Avenue to Alma will be closed for work and a second lane will be closed between 9 am and 4 pm. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays. (Steve Spencer/Kioumar Rezaie) OHIO DRIVE BETWEEN OLD SHEPHERDS WAY AND PLANO PARKWAY (PB WKS) - Street repairs on Ohio will begin the week of May 12, 2008. One lane will be closed southbound for repairs. Traffic may be detoured to the northbound side between 9 am and 4 pm to expedite construction. Expect delays and use alternate routes. (Steve Spencer) PARKER ROAD FROM “K” AVENUE TO RATON LANE (CIP) – Pavement widening and reconstruction of Parker Road is underway. Various lanes east and westbound will be closed through fall, 2008. Traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible. (James Caswell/Walter Ellwood) PARKWOOD BLVD. – LEGACY TO HEADQUARTERS (DEV) – Left (adjacent to median) thru lanes north and south bound will be closed for left turn lane construction between Legacy and Headquarters. (Rob Hill) PLANO PARKWAY AT COIT ROAD INTERSECTION (CIP) – Various lanes will be closed on both Plano Pkwy. and Coit Road approaching the intersection adjacent to areas to be widened. Two lanes will be open at all times in each direction. Traffic may decide to seek alternate routes. (James Caswell/Chris Best) PLANO PARKWAY AT DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY (DEV) – 2 right lanes eastbound on west side of Tollway will be closed 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. (Rob Hill) PLANO PARKWAY BETWEEN OHIO AND COMMERCE (PB WKS) – Various lanes will be closed east and west bound for pavement repairs. 1 lane will be closed 24 hours a day and a second lane will be closed between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes because of delays. (Steve Spencer/Rick Coursey) SH121 AT PARKWOOD (DEV) – The right lane of the eastbound service road will be closed from Granite Drive to north of Parkwood from 9 am to 3:30 pm for right turn lane construction.
