The main goal of the Environmental Education & Community Outreach Division is to introduce the concepts of composting, household chemical safety, litter awareness and prevention, organics and single-stream recycling, solid waste management and recycling, and water education and conservation through programs sponsored by the City of Plano Sustainability & Environmental Services Department. The City of Plano is hosting a free Energy Hog Training Session for city environmental educators. "The Energy Hog Program makes it easy (and fun!) for teachers to bring energy education into the
classroom. The Energy Hog is a dastardly character that makes learning about energy efficiency and conservation memorable" (Alliance to Save Energy). Environmental educators from North Texas cities are invited to attend the training session and take the curriculum into their respective classrooms. RSVP is required.
