Adopt-A-Highway

Keep Plano Beautiful’s ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY Program provides local businesses, civic organizations, and schools the opportunity to make an impact on the cleanliness and appearance of our community. By accepting the responsibility and leadership of cleaning the assigned roadway of litter and debris, your group is not only increasing awareness of litter issues and the impact of beautification efforts but is also demonstrating a positive behavior of local pride and ownership of Plano. Currently the program enjoys 43 dedicated and supportive businesses, churches, and school partners who clean 61 Plano roadways each quarter. These partners are:

We need individuals, organizations, businesses, schools, and neighborhood groups to help keep Plano litter free. YOU are the most important part! Only with your individual effort, or your group’s efforts, can the Adopt-A-Highway program be successful.

If you would like to join our growing list of Adopt-A-Highway (AAH) partners, please call Casey Eckert, KPB Education Coordinator, at (972) 769-4216, or download the AAH Contract and review the information.

Once you agree to the terms of the contract and are interested in becoming an AAH partner, a roadway you choose (from those available) will be reserved for 10 days. (Please call (972) 769-4216 to confirm that the road(s) you would like is available and not pending for another potential AAH partner.)  Once your fee amount is determined ($160 for-profit businesses and groups, $80 non-profit groups, plus an amount for months out of the contract year), you must mail the completed contract and your check to the KPB/AAH Program, 4200 W. Plano Parkway, Plano 75093. Renewal rates are half of the first-year rates for both profit and non-profit groups. (The AAH program fees include the printing and installation of signage, the purchase of safety vests, litter sticks, and bags, and also to help support KPB's litter-prevention education programs.) Once your check and contract are received, your personalized street signs will be installed.

The AAH program is a great way to show community spirit in our city. It helps make Plano a cleaner, safer place to live, work and recreate.

Efforts are underway to publicize our AAH partners in as many ways as possible. We feel it is important to inform the community that our partners have:

Accepted the responsibility and commitment to a clean and beautiful Plano

  • Accepted the leadership to increase awareness of litter issues and the impact of beautification efforts
  • Demonstrated a positive behavior of local pride and ownership of Plano!

The Keep Plano Beautiful (KPB) commission consists of eight members appointed by City Council.  This volunteer group is dedicated to empowering individuals to take responsibility for enhancing their community through litter awareness and preventions and community beautification.
