The largest source of air pollution in our area comes from on-road vehicles. Emissions of NOx (nitrogen oxide) and VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) from our vehicles turn into ozone after baking in the hot sun. Air pollution not only affects our environment, but our health and the economy as well. Here are a few things you can do to reduce air pollution from these sources: use an alternate means of transportation, such as mass transit; buy a low emissions vehicle; carpool/walk/bike instead of driving; maintain your vehicle, and avoid idling.
