WE NEED YOU TO RECYCLE ... MORE!
As of July 31, 2008, we are 3,196 tons below our goal; however, this is a 2.44% ytd increase over last year.
The City of Plano is once again challenging residents to increase their recycling to meet a city-wide goal of 25,000 tons from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. This means that each household needs to recycle 741 pounds.

Single-Stream Recycling
One-hundred percent of collected recyclable materials are transported to the Allied Waste Services Materials Recovery Facility, located at 4200 East 14th Street, where they are processed for shipment to recycling markets. The Environmental Waste Services Division uses an automated recycling collection service. This means the cart you use for recycling is serviced by an automated truck and the driver remains inside the truck. This service is bi-weekly and calendars are distributed annually. If you need your schedule or calendar, please call Customer Service at (972) 769-4150. Plano residents receive either a 95 or 68 gallon roll-out cart for recycling. If your cart has a divider, you no longer need to separate paper from other materials. Co-mingled materials and paper may be placed mixed on either side of the divider. If your divider reduces the amount of material you can recycle by taking up space, please call Customer Service at (972) 769-4150 to have it removed.
The Environmental Waste Services Division recognizes some individuals may have concerns about storing and manipulating a second 95-gallon container. Residents may request a 68-gallon roll-out cart for their recycling collection. Residents may also request a second 95-gallon roll-out cart for recycling at no additional charge if it is needed. For changes to your current service level, please call Customer Service at (972) 769-4150.
