The 1929 Pirsch Engine is a 600 gpm pumper fire truck built by the Peter Pirsch Company. Purchased new in 1929, this engine was the first factory-built piece of apparatus purchased by the Plano Fire Department. The Pirsch was used as a "standby" piece of apparatus until the August 25, 1971 fire in Plano's business district. After this fire the engine was removed from service. The Pirsch was restored in the early 1970s by a group of fire fighters. During the restoration, the engine was stripped to the bare frame and slowly rebuilt using as much of the original engine as possible. Solid copper water tanks were added. Students in the paint and body class of Plano Senior High School donated their services and painted the engine. Currently housed at Station Seven, the Pirsch is used in parades and special events.
