Literacy for Life (LFL)
Our Mission: To help adults become productive members of the community by building literacy skills and self-esteem.
Who we Serve: Literacy for Life serves non-readers, poor readers, and those who have immigrated from other countries struggling to read, write and comprehend the English language.
Our Services: LFL provides free and confidential English tutoring. Adult learners are matched one-on-one with a trained volunteer to work on literacy skills. Some goals of our students are:
- To read and comprehend English
To improve work-related skills
To actively participate in their child's education
To read to a child or grandchild
To improve life skills, such as reading prescription labels, bills, and balancing a checkbook.
| Literacy for Life (LFL) volunteers make a life-changing impact on the Collin County community. They come from all walks of life: professionals, retired teachers, parents, job-seekers, yet they come with a common purpose, to help someone learn to read and write English.
