Support the Library and Volunteer Opportunities


 

Your library needs you! Put your skills and talents to work. Volunteer positions are available in many areas of  Plano Public Library System and other city departments. Call Robin Popik at  Volunteers in Plano City Government at 972.941.7114 to apply. Volunteers may apply for positions listed below and more.
  • Friends of the Plano Public Library need volunteers to sort books for its annual sale.
  • The Plano Library Foundation supports the library through fund raising activities, the Foundation will invest in an endowment for the long-term excellence of the Libraries. It encourages community involvement with the Library program support to meet the expectations of present and future citizens of Plano.
  • Library Links with Seniors needs volunteers to provide literature-based programs to area nursing homes, independent care facilities and assisted-living centers. 
  • Literacy for Life Program needs adult literacy tutors and administrative assistance.
  • The Genealogy area at Harrington Library needs knowledgeable genealogy assistance.

Other volunteer opportunities include:

  • Assisting Children's and Youth Services staff
  • Shelving books
  • General office tasks
  • Answering the telephone
