You MUST appear in person to fill out an application for Deferred Disposition. If you qualify, you will be required to pay any State Costs and post a bond in an amount equal to the fine for the alleged offense, at the time of the application. Based on your answers to the application, you may or may not be required to take a Driving Safety Course as a term and condition of the Deferred. If you hold or held a Commercial Drivers License at the time of the alleged offense, you do not qualify for Deferred Disposition.
PLEASE NOTE: If your case is past due, or if it has been forwarded to our Collection Agency, or if it is in warrant status, you may still apply for Deferred Disposition. However, your bond amount for the Special Expense Fee will be the maximum amount allowed by state law, and it will be due when the request for Deferred is made.
If you would like to know what the total bond amount (for the Special Expense Fee) and State Costs will be prior to your coming in and completing an application, you may dial 972/941-2199 and then PRESS 3 for the most common FINES. These fine amounts will be for violations that are not past due. Please listen to the amounts quoted for fines. That amount will be the total amount you will be required to pay at the time of application for Deferred Disposition, if your case is not past due.
DO NOT pay the Deferred Disposition costs online. The use of the "Pay Citation" program will result in a conviction on your driving record.
Failure To Comply With The Order Of Deferred Disposition
If you failed to comply with any one of the requirements of the Deferred Order, your case will be set for a Show Cause Hearing. A letter will be mailed to the last known address on court records. There are no resets for a Show Cause Hearing except for an emergency that can be verified by a Court Supervisor. If you fail to appear at the Hearing, Judgment will be entered. You will have ten days from the Hearing date to file an appropriate appeal bond. If an appeal bond is not filed with the Court, the bond posted at the time Deferred Disposition was granted will be converted to pay the Judgment entered. You may waive your Hearing by signing the waiver on your Show Cause Letter or by writing to the Court to waive your Show Cause Hearing. The bond will be converted and a conviction will result. Please note that appropriate attire is required in the Court Room. No shorts of any kind are permitted.
