Homeowners Associations in Plano

What is a homeowners association?

A homeowners association, unlike a neighborhood association, is a formal legal entity created to maintain common areas and enforce private deed restrictions and covenants.

  • Membership is mandatory for all property owners within the boundaries of the association.
  • Members are required to pay established maintenance and carrying fees.
  • Homeowners associations have the legal authority to enact and enforce maintenance and design standards above and beyond those required by City ordinance.
  • Homeowners associations are corporations with formal bylaws and a governing board. Typically homeowners associations hire a property management company to handle maintenance and enforcement issues.

HOA Registration

Have you registered your HOA with the City of Plano's voluntary online-map contact database?

The City of Plano is in the process of recreating the Home Owner Association (HOA) directory.  This directory of HOA contact information will be used in several ways.  The information you provide will be made available to the City departments for official business activities, such as notification for zoning adjustments, development activity, and capital improvement projects.  This online database is often used by potential homebuyers, real estate agents, and residents that need to contact their own HOA.

Information from previous HOA registrations and updates will not be used to create the new database; registration is voluntary and you may provide as much or as little information as you like.  In order to continue to be listed in the City of Plano HOA contact information database (see below), you must re-register your HOA.
