The Long Range Planning Division is responsible for developing special reports, plans, and studies relating to various opportunities and issues that evolve over time. These may address a specific topic or a particular geographic area of the City. They often result from general recommendations of other documents such as the Comprehensive Plan. They typically involve changing trends and conditions where a proactive approach will improve the City's ability to respond effectively and efficiently. Some of these studies are done through the services of consultants. In these instances, staff acts as the liaison between the consultant and the City to ensure that the final product meets the goals and objectives of the study. These projects range from defining strategies to implementation through specific changes in documents such as the Zoning Ordinance and the Subdivsion Ordinance.
