The City of Plano offers two housing assistance programs to individuals that are at or below 80% of the median area income. Those interested in either programs should view Income Eligibility Guidelines.
First Time Homebuyer Program
The City of Plano's First Time Homebuyers Program is designed to increase home ownership among low-to-moderate income first-time homebuyers by providing financial assistance to help with the down payment and closing costs of purchasing a home. All homes must be located within Plano city limits. The assistance is provided as a grant. The maximum grant amount per household will not exceed $5,000. The grant can be used to pay 50% of the down payment and the remainder can be used to pay closing costs.
The homebuyer is expected to live in the home for five years. Twenty percent of the amount will be forgiven for each full year the buyer resides in the home. If the home is sold prior to 5 years, the unforgiven amount will be due at closing.

Housing Rehabilitation Program
The City of Plano Housing Rehabilitation program assists low to moderate income homeowners by granting low-interest and no-cost loans for home repair projects. Loans are for repairs considered essential to the residents' health, safety and welfare.
