The Plano Police Department sponsors the Citizen's Police Academy with the of goal of educating the citizens of Plano on the operations of the Department. This is accomplished through a series of lectures and hands-on activities.
The Citizen's Police Academy (CPA) is led by the Crime Prevention Unit, with all lectures and activities taught by Police Officers whose current assignments are directly involved in the policing activities covered in their segment of the Academy. The CPA is conducted at the Plano-Richardson Police Training Center where the Plano and Richardson Police Agencies conduct their training.
