Community Traffic Safety

Enforcement

An important part of the Plano Police Department’s service to our community involves a continuous effort to improve traffic safety and facilitate the safe movement of traffic throughout the City. These are the principal goals of the Traffic Unit. The unit deploys both car and motorcycle officers throughout the city to address traffic issues. Some officers in the unit are also commercial vehicle enforcement officers that help ensure the safety of our community by monitoring the large trucks that also use our roadways. In addition, there are three full-time hit and run investigators and all traffic officers are specially-trained crash investigators who respond to serious injury collisions.

Education

Education and prevention activities are also an important role of the Traffic Unit. Traffic officers routinely perform car seat inspections and provide information to the public at safety fairs, appear at numerous speaking and demonstration engagements throughout the year. Traffic Enforcement Request

While the Traffic Unit typically concentrates on high crash locations, we also depend upon our citizens to provide information on traffic related problems. If you have a traffic complaint, please contact us by clicking here.
