Crime Prevention Officers periodically patrol shopping areas 
in Plano looking for "smart shoppers"; persons who are
practicing effective crime prevention methods, and reward them with a coupon from an area merchant.
As examples, officers look for shoppers who keep their children  close and under control, keep their purchases close to their body, or have their keys out when entering the parking lot. The program allows people to be rewarded by the Police for displaying good awareness of their surroundings. Citizens can participate in the program by shopping in Plano, practicing good crime prevention techniques and being recognized by a Plano Police Crime Prevention Officer.
