3. What type of questions are on the police entrance exam?
The Civil Service Test is a general aptitude test. The City of Plano Human Resources Department is responsible for creating the test questions.
4. When is the next Civil Service Test?
At this time we do not have a firm date for our next test, but it should be sometime in the Spring of 2008.
5. How do I sign up for the Civil Service Test?
When we announce our next examination there will be a link on our website to the registration packet. You can also submit you name under the Employment Section on our website and you will be notified by a member or our Recruiting Team.
6. What are the educational requirements to be a recruit police officer with the City of Plano?
Applicants must have a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university by hire date.
In lieu of a college degree, we will accept applicants who have earned at least 60 college semester hours from an accredited institution by hire date in addition to having three (3) years active military service, or two (2) years full-time, paid sworn law enforcement experience.
6. What is the current salary for officers?
Recruit Officers earn $50,945 annually.
Officer earn $54,982 and after 36 months earn $68,804.

7. What are the requirements for a lateral transfer?
Civil Service rules and regulations prohibit lateral transfer to the Plano Police Department from other agencies.
