Welcome
From
all of us here at Plano Public Safety Communications, welcome to our
website. We thank you for taking the time to learn more about our
department and its people. We strive to provide the highest possible
quality of communications services for the agencies serving the
citizens of Plano.
Public Safety Communications is many things-
- An answering point for urgent 911 calls.
- Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Dispatch for the Plano Police and Fire Departments.
- Pre-arrival medical instructions while an ambulance is responding, providing "zero-minute" rescue advice.
- Radio service for many Plano city departments, plus several
neighboring cities and agencies, encompassing 250 square miles and
358,000 people.
- Public education to school children and adult groups on proper use of 911.
- 24 hour Warning Point for the City of Plano, responsible for initiating the Public Warning System in times of disaster.
- Function and maintenance of Plano's 36-site Outdoor Warning System.
- Supporting hosts for the city's Emergency Operations Center.
Above
all, Public Safety Communications is a team of dedicated individuals,
ready to serve the public, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The
phone rings a half million times a year at our center; our goal is to
handle each and every call as rapidly and accurately as possible.
I hope you learn more about us during this and future visits to our website.
Do not hesitate to call upon any of our team members with your questions and suggestions.
We'll be here if you need us!
Best wishes,
Ron Timmons, Director
