NEXT AVAILABLE VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION IS APRIL 2012

Applications for in-home fostering and students completing animal training through a college are still being accepted.

Animal Shelter volunteers help socialize and exercise animals, keep kennels tidy and assist with adoption counseling. Greeters assist visitors by answering general questions and keeping the lobby clean and organized. Foster volunteers care for animals until they can be returned to the shelter, while photographers take photos of the animals and upload onto the website to attract new owners. Event volunteers participate in offsite activities, helping to promote the caring of animals during adoption events. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, attend orientation and understand the policies prior to volunteering.

Animal Shelter Volunteer Requirements:

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and schedule an in-person interview
Must attend an orientation and training
Agree to make a 3 month commitment to volunteer at the shelter 
Volunteer for a minimum of 8-10 hours per month

Although Animal Shelter volunteers must be 18 years or older, there are opportunities for youth to assist with collections or donating items to the shelter. Students are welcome to hold a collection drive for items like: used towels, blankets or sheets, IAM’s adult dry dog & cat food, IAM’s puppy & kitten food - wet & dry; Tidy Cat kitty litter or check out the creative projects listed on the activities page.
