The VIP Program makes every effort to involve as many citizens as possible in the actual workings of city government. VIPs are a diverse group with a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. The VIP Program enriches the quality of life in the community by enhancing city services through the individual efforts of the volunteers.
Through Volunteers in Plano program, city staff has led a myriad of activities, including clerical assistance, translations, and handicap patrol parking. The goals of the VIP program are to:
- Encourage and provide opportunities for citizen participation in City Government
- Improve Plano Quality-of-Life through expanded City services without additional taxation
- Enhance City services by utilitizing volunteers to supplement City staff projects.
