The following departments were recognized for having consistently encouraged and provided opportunities for citizen volunteerism throughout the past 25 years.
Fire Department
Peggy Harrell received the award on behalf of the Fire Department. She has been coordinating Plano Fire Rescue volunteers for 12 years.
Libraries
Bea Martinez received the award on behalf of the Libraries. She has worked with volunteers at the Harrington Library for 15 years.
Parks and Recreation
Dell Kaplan and Joan Shopoff received the award on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department. Both Dell and Joan have been supervising volunteers for over 25 years.
Police Department
Frank McElligott received the award on behalf of the Police Department. He has been coordinating Plano Police Academy volunteers for 13 years.
Sustainability and Environmental Services
Heather Merchant and Deb Bliss received the award on behalf of the Sustainability and Environmental Services department. Heather has worked with volunteers to expand the Environmental programs for 18 years and Deb has been a volunteer supervisor for 6 years.
