About Us

The nationally accredited Plano Parks and Recreation Department operates under the following mission:

To enrich our community through parks, facilities, programs and services.

The community recreation program in Plano is a cooperative venture between the City of Plano and the Plano Independent School District. Existing school buildings are used during the year for recreation classes and activities during hours that school is not in session. This arrangement meets the requirements for recreation programs and facilities and conserves available tax dollars. In this manner, the leisure needs of every Plano citizen can be met at a comparatively low cost.

These classes are open to all persons regardless of race, age, socio-economic level, color, sex, or national origin. All individuals with special needs are encouraged to participate in City of Plano recreation programs. Accommodations will be assessed on an individual basis.

Financial assistance is available for annual tennis passes, memberships, and recreation course programs. Please call 972-941-7250 for additional information.

Inclusion in many of our programs is possible for those with special needs. It is important that you contact Therapeutic Recreation at 972-941-7272, prior to registration, for details on how we can support your abilities, interests and desire to participate.

The City of Plano Parks and Recreation Department assures equal employment opportunity for all citizens without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap status. Full consideration will be given to the employment of all persons for jobs in which they are qualified.
