If you have a skill or interest you would like to share, the Parks and Recreation Department is always interested in new teachers, ideas, and programs.
Instructors may volunteer their time or a small stipend may be available. Simply contact any recreation center or special program area supervisor to express your interest. We'll see how we can make a match!

Employment opportunities are always available for lifeguards and swim instructors.
The Plano Parks and Recreation Department is always looking for good swimmers of all ages interested in teaching lessons or lifeguarding. After successfully completing a City of Plano lifeguarding or swim instructor course, you may be eligible for employment. Once employed with the City of Plano, you may become eligible for reimbursement of the course fees less the supplies. Certain conditions apply. Please contact an aquatic staff member to obtain more information.
Minimum age varies by position. Applicants must be at least 14 years of age to be eligible to work.
