These demographics are starting to change and in the coming years, Plano's population of older adults is projected to grow tremendously. For a city that has traditionally served a population consisting of many families with children, this and other demographic shifts will require some adaptive thinking about the provision of services. With this in mind, the 2007 MP3 class set out to evaluate the role of the City of Plano in providing services to seniors. What we found is that the growth in Plano's senior population is likely to be felt across the board, including housing, transportation, planning, emergency, and health services. In fact, many of these challenges already exist. The network of currently available services is fragmented and, in many cases, is already stretched beyond capacity.
