Water Emergency in Plano
The City of Plano is asking its citizens and businesses to cease all outdoor
watering until further notice. The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD)
has experienced a major water main break at its plant in Wylie. This water
line is one of the main supply lines to the City of Plano. Repairs are
underway, but those repairs could take several days.
All residents and businesses in Plano are being
placed under Stage 3 mandatory restrictions outlined in the City’s Emergency
Water Management Plan. Those restrictions are:
- All outdoor/landscaping water usage is
prohibited.
- Water used for municipal purposes is
limited to only those activities necessary to maintain the public
health, safety and welfare.
- Use of water from fire hydrants is
prohibited except for fire fighting and related activities.
The City Manager has declared that a water emergency exists in Plano.
Attempts will be made to notify all citizens of this state of emergency.
