Lightning Damage Sets Plano Sirens Off
The Plano Outdoor Warning Siren at Fire Station 6, at the intersection of
Alma and Seabrook was damaged by a lightening strike during Monday’s storms.
This strike caused the siren to intermittently alarm on Tuesday afternoon.
Technicians were notified and responded to the scene. The siren will
temporarily be disabled and out of service until the repairs are completed.
Residents in the area will still receive outdoor siren notification via the
surrounding sirens.
The sirens in Plano are used as outdoor warning for emergency notifications.
Persons hearing one of the sirens should immediately go inside and tune to
Plano Television Network (Channel A30) for further instructions. If there is
any kind of immediate threat, this information will be displayed on this
channel.
