10th National Honor Awarded to Plano Purchasing Division
In early August, the City of Plano Purchasing Division received the
Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® Award for the 10th consecutive
year from the National Purchasing Institute (NPI) at the National Institute
of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) Conference in Anaheim, California.
Plano’s Purchasing Division is one of only a handful of agencies nationwide
to have received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) Award
since its inception.
The AEP award is recognized by all six of the nation’s most respected public
procurement organizations. It is presented annually and serves as a
benchmark for organizational excellence in procurement nationwide. The
award, designed to recognize organizational excellence in public
procurement, is presented to organizations, public or non-profit, that
obtain a high score on criteria designed to measure innovation,
professionalism, productivity and leadership attributes of the procurement
organization.
The award is not limited to any particular jurisdiction. Counties, cities,
school districts, states, special districts and universities, both public
and private, are eligible. An independent committee conducts the official
evaluation.
NPI is a not-for-profit education and research organization dedicated to
helping governments manage tax dollars wisely. The AEP was established in
1995 to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement.
