Plano Establishes Katrina Support Center
All Plano evacuees urged to register with City of Plano
Effective Monday, September 12, the City of Plano is opening a Katrina
Support Center at the City’s Joint Use Facility adjacent to the Maribelle
Davis Library, 7501 North Independence.
The Center will replace the registration processing center currently open at
Plano Fire Administration, 1901 Avenue K.
In addition to serving as the City’s registration processing area, this new,
permanent location will afford the City the opportunity to consolidate
evacuee information into a “one stop shop,” with several agency
representatives on site to answer questions about housing, schools and
federal/municipal assistance.
The adjacent Maribelle Davis Library will additionally afford informational
opportunities for evacuees, with the issuance of temporary Library and
Internet usage cards facilitating computer access about additional services
to evacuees.
To obtain maximum assistance and services, all evacuees staying in Plano
need to register through the City of Plano. Red Cross and FEMA registration
information is also being distributed at that time.
