Kids in the Garden Fallfest Set For September 24
Get in touch with nature at the annual “Kids in the Garden Fallfest,”
Saturday, September 24, City of Plano Environmental Discovery Center, 4100
W. Plano Parkway, 9am – noon.
This free family event has become an annual favorite with Plano families.
Children can crawl through an imitation worm burrow, get buggy with bugs,
explore a creek habitat, create art from recycled materials, have their
photo taken through a sunflower face, discover the composting play area and
make and eat the always popular “dirt sundaes,” all for free!
Adults will find plenty of informative exhibits in the natural garden
setting focusing on composting, water conservation and use of native
plantings to create beautiful landscapes.
A special community scarecrow competition will begin at 9:15am, with
visitors voting on their favorite recycled creation.
“The Fallfest celebration offers a variety of fun games and activities to
capture childrens’ imaginations, “ said Deb Bliss, Compost Education
Coordinator. “If you’ve never visited our garden, this is the ideal time to
check it out.”
