‘HELPING TO HEAL’ CONCERT
RESCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 16;
THE VOCAL MAJORITY CHORUS, STUDENT CHOIRS TO BE FEATURED IN CONCERT
BENEFITING HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS THROUGHOUT COLLIN COUNTY
(Frisco, Texas - September 27) The ‘Helping to Heal’ concert benefiting
hurricane relief efforts throughout Collin County is rescheduled for Sunday,
October 16. The time and location remains the same. The concert will begin
at 7 p.m. at Pizza Hut Park, which is located on the northeast corner of the
North Dallas Parkway and F.M. 720/Main Street, in Frisco. Gates open at 5:30
p.m.
The communities of Allen, Frisco, Plano and McKinney began orchestrating the
concert more than two weeks ago with the goal of raising $500,000 to benefit
The American Red Cross -- and help hurricane evacuees, who have relocated to
Collin County.
The concert was originally scheduled for September 24; however, the threat
of severe weather prompted organizers to postpone those plans.
The Vocal Majority Chorus, America’s Premier Pops Chorus, will headline the
“Helping to Heal” benefit concert. It will also feature high school choirs
from Frisco, McKinney and Plano. A jazz band, from Collin County Community
College, will greet guests as they enter the new 20,000-seat stadium. The
concert will conclude with a fireworks finale.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and will be available starting
Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster online at
www.ticketmaster.com or by calling
214-373-8000 or 972-647-5700. The convenience fee will be donated back to
the event. Tickets will also be available through the school districts in
Allen, Frisco, McKinney and Plano, beginning Monday, September 19. You can
also purchase tickets at the Pizza Hut Park box office on the day of the
concert, starting at 11 a.m.
All proceeds from the concert, including sales from concessions and
donations, will benefit The American Red Cross, as well as social service
agencies throughout Collin County, which are assisting the cities of Allen,
Frisco, Plano and McKinney with Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.
Those cities have selected the following agencies to share the proceeds:
Allen Community Outreach, Assistance Center of Collin County, Children’s
Medical Center, Collin County Adult Clinic, Frisco Family Services, God’s
Food Pantry, Interfaith Disaster Relief of Collin County, Plano Food Bank
and the Samaritan Inn.
Personalities from 98.7 KLUV and WFAA TV-8, will emcee the benefit concert.
