Plano Television Network Receives Lone Star
Emmy
On Saturday, October 15, Plano
Television Network (PTN) was awarded an Emmy from the Lone Star Chapter of
the National Television Academy for a program titled “Every Fifteen
Minutes.” This is the first Emmy award for the station. The program was
produced by Jason Van Sickel about the consequences of teen drinking and
driving.
“It is an honor to bring an Emmy to PTN,” Van Sickel said. “This is a
collaboration of hard work from within the department; and we are thrilled
to be recognized by our peers.”
Kurt Ugland, PTN Executive Producer, is also proud of the accomplishment.
“This latest award is an excellent representation of the quality of
programming that PTN produces.”
PTN was the only municipal station to be recognized with this prestigious
honor.
“To be a government station recognized is an honor within itself,” Ugland
said. “We are competing with two top 10 markets in the nation, Houston and
Dallas, as well as many other talented producers in the state.”
PTN was nominated for three Emmys for the 2005 competition, bringing the
total number of Emmy nominations to 10. The station also recently earned
first place for Overall Excellence in Government Programming in the Texas
Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors awards competition,
as well as a third place award for Overall Excellence in Government
Programming in the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and
Advisors awards competition.
“This certainly is our year,” Ugland said. “Our main goal is to bring
quality programming to Plano residents. However, to be awarded for our
programming is icing on the cake.”
